Ukrainian broadcaster has confirmed their participation at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw and they announced the way their national selection will be organised. After we revealed you the first acts which are competing for the final 11 spots which will be decided from 26th to 27th of August we can present you other Junior artists fighting for a place in the national final.
Applications are opened until 25th of August. Participants can submit their applications at the UA: PBC website , if the application meets the requirements of the national selection regulations the participant’s video will be published on the website with the hashtag #uajec2020. And each participant can collect “likes” for their videos until 25th of August. So far they have revealed three participants some of which are familiar to the Ukrainian audience.
Yulya Karimi will perform the song “People” she is known to the Ukrainian audience as a participant of season five of “The Voice Kids” the same season as Ukrainian representative at Junior Eurovision 2019 Sophia Ivanko and both of them reached the battle rounds but they had different coaches. Yulya was coached by DZIDZIO and Sophia by Jamala.
Daniyela Shapochnikova will perform the song “Tvoye Maybutnye” (Your Future)
Kristina Osichenko has performed a cover of traditional Ukrainian song “Teche voda” (River flows) and if she gets selected to go to the final she will get another song which she will have a chance to perform. This traditional song was also covered by a former Ukrainian representative at Eurovision 2014, Mariya Yaremchuk.
Maksym Tkachuk is performing a Ukrainian cover version of the song Giamaica which dates back from the 1960s and was recorded by a number of Italian artists. Maksym has participated at a festival “Stars of the Albion” in London this year, watch his performance here and he has recently performed a cover of “Luna” by Alessandro Safina.
From 28th of August to 4th of September, the list of eleven finalist will be announced and the relevant agreements will be signed. Additionally, UA: PBC will provide a song for participants who have submitted previous versions to record. Original song players will also have the opportunity to record this song, if they choose so.
The final phase will commence from 5th to 7th of September when a jury and the users of social networks will decide the winner among the eleven participants.
