Portugal confirmed their participation at Junior Eurovision 2020!

RTP has revealed in an interview for escportugal that they will be back for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The broadcaster hasn’t revealed any of the details regarding the choice of the Portuguese representative at this years edition of the contest. RTP stated if there is a competition, they will be present. Poland has recently announced that they will lift the flight restrictions to passengers coming from Portugal. This will be their sixth time participating at the show after they took part in the contest in 2006, 2007, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The best result Portugal has achieved at the stage of Junior Eurovision was 14th place on two occasions at their debut in 2006 with Pedro Madeira who sang “Deixa-me sentir” and in 2017 when Mariana Venâncio sang “Youtuber”. Last year Portugal was represented by Joana Almeida with “Vem Comigo” (Come With Me) and reached 16th place with 43 points.

Albania, Armenia and Italy are the only countries which have participated before and are yet to announce their decision regarding participation at Junior Eurovision 2020. The countries which have so far confirmed their participation are: BelarusKazakhstanPoland, France, GeorgiaMaltaThe NetherlandsRussiaSerbiaSpainUkraine and Germany who will be making their debut. While AustraliaWales, Ireland and North Macedonia announced their withdrawals from the show.
