Karl Schembri is best known to Eurovision fans following his participation in the recent edition of X Factor Malta. He was one of the fan favorites in this competition, and he was the winner of our poll every week, up until he was unexpectedly eliminated from the X Factor in the third live show.

Schembri showed some impressive vocal abilities mainly thanks to his operatic voice. He is a university student but still keeps a great part of his life for singing. With teasers starting to pop up a week before the releasing of the song, this artist took care of making everybody know about the releasing. “Closer” is the first single the young singer has released and more is yet to come.

When asked about his song Karl replied:

My song is about a relationship where two people are growing apart and there is the hope and desire that they can get back together. It means a lot to me since it is my first original single and to me it is a big stepping stone to making my own music and showcasing my voice. It really feels satisfying to finally take a shot at an original song and see that it is doing so well given i am not known much yet. The video took around 3 months to be prepared but together with my team we managed to come up with an amazing song, concept and video. I really hope viewers will stream my song and video and hopefully i can continue to grow my fan base and thus keep motivated and keep on pursuing my singing career.
