Melodifestivalen Cancells Tour and Scraps Audience.

Stockholm- Last night Anette Helenious, The Project Director of Melodifestivalen 2021 broke the silence with this sad but very expected news about “Hela Sveriges Fest”

“There will be no Sweden tour for the Melodifestivalen next year. The corona pandemic means that all competitions are broadcast from Stockholm – without an audience.”

Its clear that is not what most of us wanted, but the fact that the competition is still going is a great distraction for Swedes and Eurovision Fans for at least 6 weeks.

Since 2002, the Melodifestivalen has toured around the country. The four semifinals, the second chance and the final have been arranged in different cities and often attracted large audiences. “This year the pandemic put sticks on the tour wheels”. Due the fast changing rules in each city of Sweden.

Arena

We know that we will have the first and the second semifinal in Stockholm, then we will stay in Stockholm for the third and fourth. For the Andra Chansen will be the same, but there is nothing like home Stockholm for the final. Yes we will stay in Stockholm for 6 weeks but we do not know just yet where in the Swedish capital.

“We will want to make great numbers and think that a regular TV studio is a little too small. At the same time, we do not want to be in a big arena with empty stands. A large room that is spacious enough is what we are looking for.”

Host

Previously, Aftonbladet had information that the comedian David Sundin would make a comeback as host of next year’s festival, something he himself denied. Anette Helenius does the same, but does not want to tell which names are otherwise relevant. Well We are not expecting them to announce him to be the host already no?

“-David will not host the program. But I want viewers to see many different faces and different types of entertainment every week.” Said Anette Helenious.

Audience

Despite they mentioned “No audience” in the release, we wanted to go a little bit further.

“There’s a limit of 50 people in Sweden (that would include the artists and the TV production). But: The show will go on!.. It’s a huge production, so they’re already starting to create the shows. And this pandemic doesn’t seem to ease for now. So no, they are planning according to the circumstances.” said a source of SVT.

Dates.

Anette Mentioned the kick off on February 6th, if Everything goes according to planned the dates are the following:

Semifinal 1 – February 6th

Semifinal 2 – February 13th

Semifinal 3 – February 20th

Semifinal 4 –February 27th

Andra Chansen – March 6th

FINAL – March 13th
