Eesti Laul 2021 – Final Semi Finalists Revealed!
It is time to find out which singers are going to close the list of participants at the semi finals of Eesti Laul 2021.
Finalist of Eesti Laul 2020 who ended up at 4th place Egert Milder is back with the song “Free Again” the team behind it is the same as last year, Kaspar Kalluste, Matteo Capreoli and Egert.
Sissi reached 4th place at Eesti Laul 2019 and she will be back to the contest with the song “Time”. She is of course the daughter of Eurovision winner Dave Benson and has co-written the song with EDM singer/songwriter Andrei Zevakin and the Estonian voice of Moana, Kelly Tulvik.
Kristin Kalnapenk is a newcomer to Eesti Laul, Soundcloud describes her as a Folk singer and she palys the guitar and ukulele. Her song “Find A Way” is co-written by Hannes Agur Vellend who has written for the group Põhja-Tallinn.
Karl Killing is another familiar face who took part at Eesti Laul 2018 together with Karl Kristjan feat. Wateva, Karl performed “Young” and they ended up 6th place. In Eesti Laul 2021 he will try to amaze the audience with the song he wrote solely by himself “Kiss Me”.
Rahel Ollisaar is 25 years old singer from Tallin known for being a member the bands OUU and Rake and as a backing singer in the ensemble 2 Quick Start. Rahel recently started her solo career with the song “Good Gracious” she is going to perform “Sunday Night” for which she is the co-author together with Frederik Küüts. Frederik is of course the Fredi part of Anett x Fredi who came 3rd last year with “Write About Me”
The audience will get a chance to see former Estonian representative at Eurovision 2014, Tanja Mihhailova-Saar who will sing “Best Night Ever” the authors are Timo Vendt, Mikhel Mattisen and Tanja herself. Timo co-wrote Tanja’s 2014 entry, and Mikhel Mattisen was part of the writing team behind both 2013’s “Et uus saaks alguse” and 2018’s “La Forza”
Helena Põldmaa better known by Heleza is going to be performing “6” (Karl Killing, Helena Pōldmaa). She has recently released her first solo single “Ma ei tea kes ma olen” which she also performed with a fellow semi finalist of Eesti Laul 2021 Karl Killing, Heleza has previously performed with the rap collective, HOAX.
Uku Hasma – “Kaos” Uku is another first timer. Listening to his July release “Paljajalu” might give us a clue to the “Kaos” to come! Written by Uku Hasma, Henri Erik Tammai, Rudolf, Toltsberg
Suured tüdrukud (Big Girls!) is the duo which consists of Kaire Vilgats and Dagmar Oja. Kaire is avocalist and actress, known for numerous roles in stage musicals. and she is also holding the record of highest number of participations at Eurovision for Estonia. In 2000 and 2002, she sang backing vocals for the Estonian and Maltese songs, and did the same for Estonia at 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019. She was set to take part at the Eurovision 2020 as a backing singer before the contest got cancelled. Dagmar also took part at Eurovision as a backing singer. In 2002 she provided backing vocals for Ira Losco (Malta), in 2006 for Sandra Oxenryd (Estonia) and has been Estonian backing vocal for Eurovision 2016; 2017 and 2019; same as Kaire, Dagmar should’ve been backing vocal to Estonian entry at Eurovision 2020. The two of them will are going to perform a song “Heaven’s Not That Far Tonight” by Koit Toome, Gevin Niglas and Karl Killing.
Alabama Watchdog – will be singing “Alabama Watchdog” in their first ever appearance on the Eesti Laul stage. They describe themselves as having “channeled dirty-rock dynamism of the likes of Muse, Royal Blood, Wolfmother and Rage Against The Machine”. The songs they’ve released as a trio have been under the name “Up The Sky” and having listened to their song “Miss Emma”, they’re certainly bringing the rock to the contest!
Kadri Voorand is a famous Estonian jazz musician. She has been singing, dancing and playing the violin since her early childhood so far Voorand has produced seven albums, four of which have been recognized at the Estonian Music Awards. Kadri also took part at Eesti Laul 2017 as a jury member. She is the author of her entry “Energy”.
Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova are going to perform “Ma Olen Siin” written and composed by Rainer Michleson and Robert Linna. Robert is by his education film cameraman but he is a well known Estonian musician who sang in several bands Elephants from Neptune, KuradiSaar and Lexsoul Dancemachine. Ivo Linna has represented Estonia at Eurovision 1996 with the song “Kaelakee Hääl” and finished 5th. He competed in Eesti Laul 2017 with the song “Suur loterii”. He was 5th will he manage to reach 5th place again or a higher place maybe we will see in March.

It is expected that all of the competing songs for Eesti Laul 2021 will be revealed in a special program scheduled for December. All of the shows are going be held in Tallin with Semi-Finals set to take place on 18th and 20th of February, while the Grand Final is scheduled for the 6th of March.
