Even though recently we have encountered the rumours that Sanremo could be postponed, the response from the officials is that the dates for Sanremo 2021 stay as planned. You can find the official regulations here.

“We sail on sight like all those who live on this planet, but for the moment everything is confirmed. There are rumors every day about the dates of Sanremo and this makes us understand that the theme is at the center of attention. But there is nothing new: we planned it for the first week of March, from 2nd to 6th, and that remains the same“.

In the same interview, Fasulo expressed a proposal that Sanremo Giovani becomes a contest that lasts all year. He would like to see it as a contest which would grant the opportunity to work in continuity with young talents which would be the most rewarding . It shows that during the recent years Sanremo Giovani has produced a great number of talents in addition to that many artists like Gabbani, Ermal Meta, Mahmood, Diodato, are doing very well on the international market which is the result done by the excellent cooperation with the artistic directors, the authors, the musicians would allow them to organize a contest every year, which would be an opportunity to talk with young musicians and organize various workshops for all the talented artists.

Claudio Fasulo wasn’t the only one to address the matter of postponing Sanremo as the Mayor of Sanremo Alberto Biancheri made a statement regarding the rumours that Festival di Sanremo is going to be moved to the end of April.

The next Sanremo Festival will be held from 2 to 6 March, as already communicated. If later it is deemed appropriate to make new assessments on the date together with Rai, we will do so but to date there has been no request for postponement by the Municipality of Sanremo. Instead, I confirm that dialogue with Rai is daily: we are working on perfecting the new agreement, with the common intention of making a great 2021 Festival. A new voice comes out every day on the Festival: who says with the public, who without, who to March, who in April, who speaks of an event limited to the Ariston and who instead hypothesizes an extended event. I understand the great interest that the topic arouses but the truth is that the general situation is in continuous and rapid evolution and it is impossible to have certainty about future scenarios: we are experiencing a phase, moreover, in which we do not know what we will be able to or will not be able to do. Christmas, let alone knowing exactly the situation we will have in March 2021. What is certain is that every day we work with Rai and with the artistic director Amadeus to build a great Festival.
