Postcards concept for Eurovision 2021 has been revealed!
The concept for the short introductory videos between songs which are introducing the participants of Eurovision, better known as postcards, has been revealed by the Core Team of Eurovision Song Contest, they opened a call for the Dutch community to come up with some unique locations where they could record them. At the moment it is uncertain if the artists will be able to travel to the Netherlands to record the postcard in person so the Core Team is developing a different approach, they plan to present the artists through images shot in their own country.
We show these images on the framework of a so-called ‘tiny house’. We set up that house in different places in the Netherlands that suit the artist so that we get to know them well. The house is a central theme, precisely because our living rooms have never been more important than this year. And at the same time, we open up our home to the rest of the world. And for these tiny houses, we are looking for unique locations in the Netherlands; the most beautiful and special places in our country that we can portray spectacularly.
Gerben Bakker, Head of Show
The places which they are searching should be open air and possiby photogenic ones in addition to that Gerben said that the locations could be some of the well-known places but added that they are surely interested in some of the undiscovered and hidden places which The Netherlands could offer but there was a remark that all of the places should have enough space given the fact that the recordings will be shot wide and big and they need to set up the equipment and film it.
He encouraged municipalities and regions to register the locations which they would like to show to 180 million TV audience throughout Europe. The registrations could be done at songfestival.nl. The deadline is 31st of December 2020. The postcards are expected to be recorded in March and April, while the videos will be produced by TV producer IDTV on behalf of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Regarding the submissions of private properties he said that those are welcome too, but the proposals submitted by the municipalities are more likely to be chosen.
