This year was pretty busy for the Mamas they performed at Allsång at Skansen, Swedish Idol and had a special birthday performance for Crown Princess Victoria. In addition to that they debut EP “Tomorrow is waiting”. and now they are back at Melodifestivalen 2021! When the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was canceled in May, Ash Haynes, Loulou Lamotte and Dinah Yonas Manna said they would be happy to perform at the stage of Malodifestivalen again but only if they found a “killer good song” and it seems like they found one! This May ESCbubble had a chance to talk with The Mamas about their plans the interview is available below.
Their song for Melodifestivalen 2021 is called “In the middle” and it is written by Emily Falvey (singer and songwriter), Robin Stjernberg (Swedish representative at Eurovision 2013) and record breaking Swedish singer and songwriter, Jimmy Jansson, at Melodifestivalen 2020 he managed to set a new record for the amount of competing entries by a composer at one contest with six entries.
I probably did not think it would happen this soon. We said we would wait until we had the right song, and it just showed up. It felt like we were meant to sing it, so it was just a matter of catching up. As soon as we heard it, we got the same feeling in our stomachs as we got with “Move” and thought we needed to sing this. We felt that song was right for us. We feel that it would be a dream to perform this in the final together with all the other finalists – but that the road there is really exactly the same as for everyone else. We had our dream and we reached all the way last turn and it was really a “dream come true”. It feels like this year we can just focus on singing and having fun.Dinah Yonas Manna
