Daði Freyr will premiere his Eurovision 2021 song on 13th of March!

Last October it has been announced that Iceland won’t be organising Söngvakeppnin  this year and Daði Freyr Pétursson last’ years winner of the national selection and a big fan favourite will be the one to represent the nation at Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Now we’ve got news coming from the Icelandic broadcaster RÚV stating that their entry will be premiered in a new TV show scheduled for 13th of March

Because of the pandemic Eurovision 2020 got cancelled and Daði was set to work and prepare some new music releases but when he got the invitation from Icelandic broadcaster RÚV , he accepted it and he is now in the final stages of the song preparation. The song is expected to be finalized in the next few days, costumes and staging are being prepared and a music video will be made in the future, which will be premiered at the end of March. There is also a video game where Daði and Gagnamagnið will play a key role. Earlier this month he asked his followers to join the choir and got a massive response to the inquiry.  Daði will perform the song, together with Gagnamagnið and he revealed that he is ready to win the contest:

This is a competition so we have the mentality to win this. Most emphasis is placed on advancing to the finals so that there can be a good party here on Saturday. I do not quite see the point of competing in a competition if you are not going to see if you can win shoes.

Daði also reflected about the difference of composing the song for which he knows it will be Iceland’s contribution: “We know that we are going into the real competition so it can be justified to put everything into this. I have a lot ready that I did not have last time. You can plan things further ahead instead of going to the preliminary competition without knowing if we will move on.”

“Think about things” was the song which he should’ve performed at the cancelled contest but the song itself already achieved a huge success last year being also part of the TIME’s list of top 10 best songs of 2020 until now it has been streamed around 66 million times. We are sure you already know it but you can listen to it once again below.

RÚV is set to release two documentaries about the history of  On February 27 and March 6, documentaries will be shown about the history of Daði and Gagnamagnið’s adventures when the entry at Söngvakeppnin  2017 “What Is Love?”ended as runner-up. In addition to that it will also feature the discussion of the success of “Think About Things” and the attention that Daði Freyr has received since it won Söngvakeppnin 2020.

The song is going to be premiered in the first episode of the new music show “Strauma” on 13th of March. The episode will also feature Eurovision Song Contest over the years and in its future episodes the show deals with current music trends in Iceland and all around the globe.
