Diane Warren submits song for Australia

Montaigne has revealed that songwriter Diane Warren has sent her a potential song for her to sing at this year’s Eurovision.

According to the site Aussievision, Montaigne revealed the details on her Twitch channel saying:

“I had a call with a lady called Diane Warren…. she’s one of the greatest songwriters that time has ever seen………she kind of sent me a song to consider for Eurovision. She was ‘I have this song for you, give it a shot, maybe it’s good for Eurovision’ and it is a hit! The song is immediately recognisable as a hit.

Montaigne then revealed that she is unlikely to use the song however, saying:

It’s not super my….. like I don’t think it’s a lyric I would ever write and I don’t know if it’s a style that identify with. She said ‘have it, give the production a shot, it might feel good if you make the production your own’.

But the thing is, I have this other song I wrote that I fucking love, I think it’s so fun, it’s like right up my alley, this style I’ve been trying to achieve for all of this year, basically. So I just have to work on both of them and see which I prefer for Eurovision… and work on other songs as well!”

Warren has won a numerous amount of awards, including a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, and has been nominated for eleven Academy Awards. She has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her UK success saw her win an Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors when she received the Special International Award in 2008.

Diane has wrote an impressive nine No.1 songs on the US Billboard charts, writing songs including ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ by Starship, ‘Unbreak My Heart’ by Toni Braxton, ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ by Cher, ‘Can’t Find the Moonlight’ by LeAnn Rimes, and ‘Because You Loved Me’ by Celine Dion.

Warren has also previously been involved in the Eurovision Song Contest, collaborating with Andrew Lloyd-Webber on ‘It’s My Time’ for the UK and placing 5th.

Montaigne is yet to reveal which song she will be sending to this year’s Eurovision, but we will of course let you know of any updates. In the meantime you can see some of Diane’s hits below, including Jade Ewen’s ‘It’s my time’
