Eesti Laul – More details revealed, including special guests!
The Estonian broadcaster ERR has today released further details for this season’s Eesti Laul, and it looks as though we are in for a treat!
This year all three shows will take place in the same arena, in the famous Saku Suurhall, which of course was the venue for Eurovision itself in 2002 and has hosted the final of the preselection Eesti Laul each year since 2016. The first Semi-final airs tomorrow evening (18th Feb), with the second Semi-final on Saturday 20th February, The grand final will take place on March 6th and will of course determine who will represent Estonia in Rotterdam in May.
The shows will be presented by singer and actress Grete Kuld and actor Tonis Niinemets. The shows will not have a live audience but will be aired on tv, web and radio with a series of accompanying shows showing behind the scenes footage. This schedule also includes a show called ‘Stars On The Red Carpet Of Eurovision’ which will air ahead of the second semi-final on Saturday evening at 17:45CET
ERR have also announced the special guests who will perform in the intervals for each show. For the first semi-final we will see Beebiloust, and also Elina Born performing with Villemdrillem. Elina of course represented Estonia with Stig Rasta in 2015 with ‘Goodbye To Yesterday’. She has worked with rapper Villemdrillem before and you can listen to their single from 2020 ‘NIIEA’ here:
The second semi-final will see performances from Curly Strings and Daniel Levi. Daniel will be well known to fans of the show having also competed in 2015, finishing second to Elina and Stig with ‘Burning Lights’. Curly Strings are an Estonian folk group, and you can listen to their new single ‘Taevas Seeb Riidu’ here:
And for the final we can expect to see Mr. Lawrence, but rather than Duncan this time, it will be the Estonian rock group known as Mr. Lawrence. They released three successful albums in the 1990s, you can listen to one of their hits ‘Annabel’ here:
