Filip Rudan: “My song is about a person that I imagined losing and the consequences of that loss”

Dora 2021 is taking place tonight in Opatija, where a total of 14 acts are going to be competing for representing Croatia in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. The runner-up of the third season of the Croatian version of The Voice – Filip Rudan is going to be competing with his song “Blind”, which he co-wrote with Antonio Franić and Hrvoje Domazet.

We had a great pleasure to chat with Filip ahead of his performance in tonight’s Dora. Find out more about this great artist, and find out what he told us about his Dora participation right here:

Hi Filip, and thank you for taking your time for ESCBubble! First of all, how was your reaction when you heard you will be at Dora 2021?

Hi ESCBubble! I was very thrilled when I heard that I would be competing at Dora, especially because “Blind” will be my first single, which I also co-wrote.

You already competed in “The Voice Croatia”, how was the experience there and do you think The Voice helped you to prepare for Dora too?

The Voice was a great experience, and I am really thankful for it. It helped me a lot with my singing abilities, and I made some great friends along the way. It also prepared me for all the other TV-related events in the future.

What made you decide to participate in Dora and what are your expectations?

I wanted to give it a shot and submit my song for the competition. Luckily, it was chosen as one of the 14 tracks which will participate. I expect Dora to be a great experience and an opportunity to introduce myself as a songwriter.

Your song is called “Blind”, what can you tell us about the song and what’s the message behind it?

I would describe “Blind” as very emotional and dynamic. It talks about a person that I imagined losing and the consequences of that loss.

How will be the staging at Dora? What can we expect from your performance?

The performance will be quite different from my other performances on The Voice; it will be energetic and I can’t wait for the audience to see it.

Do you follow Eurovision and have you a favorite song from the contest?

Of course, I have been following Eurovision since 2012, when Loreen won with “Euphoria“, I think it’s a great song. One of my favorite entries is “Arcade“ by 2019 winner Duncan Laurence.

And any other plans for 2021? Can we expect new music from Filip?

I plan on working on more music. Hopefully, the covid pandemic will soon be over because I really miss concerts, performing, and all the interaction with the audience. I can’t wait to be back on stage.

For the end, I want to thank you for your time and please, if you have a message for your fans and our readers here on ESCBubble?

Thank you for taking your time to read this interview and for all the support! Stay safe and enjoy music.
