Jeangu Macrooy’s song will be revealed in early March!

After months of relative silence around Jeangu Macrooy, who once again got selected to represent his country on home soil, there is some news!

Yesterday Cornald Maas was one of the guests in Koffietijd, a Dutch morning show. Cornald Maas has been a life-long Eurovison fan, has been the country’s commentator  from 2004 – 2010 and got back in 2014 and has been commentating ever since, including the year 2019, when his dream of seeing his country win the contest became reality, thanks to Duncan Laurence!
Next to that Cornald is also in the Dutch selection committee and was, last year for the cancelled 2020 edition, made Creative Advisor!
But it is as a selection committee member that he can speak with authority on the Dutch entries and so he revealed on Koffietijd that we can look forward to Jeangu’s song in early March!

Speaking to the show’s hosts, he said:

I have a lot of respect for Jeangu and his team for how they dealt with the situation. A year ago, it was cancelled and he was immediately re-selected to represent us and that was justified, I think. That you give him another chance for taking part after missing the contest back then.

But at the same time, you go into it the contest less uninhibitedly, because you know you have to deliver a song that is suitable. You are already the artist. Meanwhile, you also have to do it in a time that is not really inspiring. Corona, lockdown, you get to know less new things, but [Jeangu] is miraculously succeeding in that mission.

In 2020, Jeangu was set to represent the host nation The Netherlands with ‘Grow’:

What song he will bring to Eurovision this year remains to be revealed, but what kind of song do you hope it will be?
