Belarus to submit their new song for Eurovision 2021 by the end of March!

The Belarusian national broadcaster BTRC have internally decided to select the group Galasy ZMesta to represent Belarus in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. The selected song “Ya nauchu tebya” was not according to the rules of the Contest, and the EBU has thus disqualified it back on the 11th of March. BTRC now has until the end of March to select and submit a new song for the 2021 Contest.

According to the news portal TUT.by, Ivan Eismont – the Head of BTRC confirmed that they have to submit a new song until the end of March, and that the new song is already underway.

Taking into account our cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union, we suggested the Galasy ZMesta group to provide us with some other option. And now, as far as I know, active work is underway on this.

He added that he honestly hopes that the new song will have no political contexts.  The lead singer of Galasy ZMesta, Dimitriy Bulakov had a different view about “Ya nauchu tebya” to the EBU, as he didn’t see anything political in the lyrics, and instead of modifying it, he said they won’t make any changes to that particular song:

We won’t change anything in this song, we will give it to the people as it is.

The new song that will represent Belarus in Eurovision 2021 is to be presented in the next two weeks.
