Eurovision stars among the judges of EuroStars Drag Contest!

Drag acts have been competing at the stage of Eurovision since 2002 when Sestre represented Slovenia with “Samo ljubezen” since then we also had DQ (Denmark 2007), Verka Serduchka (Ukraine 2007) and the winner of Eurovision Song Contest 2014, Conchita Wurst. In addition to that many drag artists competed at the national finals, the two worlds also collided at the beginning of the year when the UK fans launched the petition to have Frock Destroyers as their Eurovision representatives but on 11th of March it has been revealed that James Newman will be singing “Embers” as the next UK entry at the contest. The show RuPaul’s Drag Race UK featured a special Eurovision episode and now we will be seeing some of the former Eurovision participants as the judges of EuroStars Drag Contest.

Danish representative at Eurovision 2018, Rasmussen will be one of the judges at EuroStars Drag Contest 2021, he won’t be the only Eurovision star judging the show as he will be joined by one of the Swedish backing vocalists at Eurovision 2019, last years winner of Melodifestivalen and this years third placed, “The Mamas”, Dinah Yonas. We will be seeing another familiar face from Melodifestivalen as the founding member of Alcazar, Andreas Lundstedt is also among the judges. The rest of the judges panel includes drag stars all over the world and some names which will be familiar to the viewers of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Drag Race Holland, Canada’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK you can find out the rest of the judges panel at the video below.

EuroStars Contest is a three part Drag series inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest and RuPaul’s Drag Race, according to Linda Gold, the creator of it, the goal is to: “give all drag a platform, whatever their age, sex or gender, from kings to queens to trans – it is open to everybody”. The regular EuroDrag hosts Linda Gold and Dys Alexia will be handing their place to Drag Race Holland’s Sedergine & Janey Jacke and one of the most popular kings of UK drag scene, LoUis CYfer. Total of 33 contestants will compete for a chance to win and among them there are Xenia from Finland who got Krista Siegfrids golden buzzer at Talent Suomi 2020 and Lola McQueen from Belgium who got the golden buzzer of Belgium’s Got Talent 2019.  You can check all of the contestant below.
