The song “Husavik – My Home Town” from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, got the world crazy for the small Icelandic town and after it got nominations for The Critics Choice Awards, 93rd Academy Awards, Grammy Award it also gave the town a chance to build a special museum to promote it’s tourism.
As we previously informed you an Eurovision Museum will be opening in Húsavík and the 2,300 people for whom Húsavík is home came to the idea to promote their town and show what would it mean to them for the song “Husavik – My Home Town” to receive an Oscar. They joined forces with Húsavík Theater Compay, Sahara Iceland, Húsavík Cape Hotel and Inspired by Iceland, to make their dream a reality as in these extraordinary times, they see it as an unique opportunity to revitalize their hometown and its tourism through the movie and the song. You can meet them through a letter which is available here, in addition to that you can watch the video support which they recorded below
But this is not all as there is a fundraising campaign launched for the Eurovision Museum in Húsavík. Founder of the Exploration Museum in Húsavik, Örlygur Hnefill Örlygsson, describes the three main exhibitions in the museum.
The first exhibit looks at the history of the Icelandic qualifier contest “Söngkeppnin”. The second part of the museum is dedicated to the Eurovision movie and Húsavík’s role in the story of “Fire Saga”. The third section will tell the continental story of the contest and its participant countries through the years.
