Carola has dropped some big news today, a return to her beloved contest in a way: she will be the spokesperson for Sweden, meaning that she will be the one delivering the jury results for her country in the upcoming contest!
And the timing is anything but a coincidence: it was 30 years ago, Carola fought her way to the 3rd Swedish Eurovision victory, in 1991 she won in Rome with ‘Fångad av en stormvind’, after winning a countback against France’s Amina, who sang ‘Le dernier qui a parlé…’.
Carola’s management shared the news on her Instagram page:
The Eurovision queen herself reacted the following way:
It feels so right, exactly this year and I’m so happy because of it. It is an honourable task that is going to evoke many memories. It even feels extra special to be a spokesperson when we have Tusse representing Sweden. Tusse is such a strong rising star with so much depth and emotion, who I can identify myself with as well.
Let’s relive Carola’s winning performance of ‘Fångad av en stormvind’ from 30 years ago in Rome:
