Australia confirms participation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022!

Our furthest contestant is returning next year!
To fellow Eurovision-site ESCToday, broadcaster SBS have confirmed Australia will be back on the Eurovision scene.
After having delivered the interval act in 2014, making their debut in 2015 with Guy Sebastian (and finishing in the top 5 immediately!), they kept participating year after year. Before the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 they were given a 5-year-grant, meaning they will be able to be with us at least including the contest of 2023.

Last year the contest was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, SBS selected the winner of Eurovision: Australia Decides 2020 again: Montaigne. For 2022, they will bring back their popular selection to choose who will be representing them on their 7th participation, in a to be chosen city in Italy.

Montaigne unfortunately failed to reach the final this year with ‘Technicolour’ after not having been able to travel to Rotterdam in the first place, but remains a Eurovision darling.
Let’s listen to her uplifting song again!

Details on Eurovision: Australia Decides 2022 will be released at a later date.
