Davina Michelle rules out her participation at Eurovision 2022!

The 25 years old Dutch singer and YouTube star, Davina Michelle rose to fame after performing  the cover version of “What About Us” by P!nk at her channel,  she also took part at the eleventh season of the show Beste Zangers by AVROTROS and she was rumoured among the artists who were considered by the Dutch broadcaster to be the country’s representative at Eurovision 2019. In a recent interview for RTL Nieuws Davina has been asked about the a chance to participate at Eurovision 2022. She ruled it out stating that now’s not the right moment for it.

“My team and I are all like: maybe the moment just isn’t here yet..I never say never, but I just don’t feel like now is the time to do it.”

In April it has been revealed that Davina will perform the interval act of the first semi-final of Eurovision Song Contest 2021, “The Power of Water”. You can check out her performance below.

On the other hand it is worth mentioning that AVROTROS has launched their search for a song which will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2022. Six member committee which consists out of Eric van Stade, Cornald Mass, Jan Smit, Sander Lantinga, Coen Swijnenberg and Joyce Hoedelmans will decide about the song and all interested to apply could send the final version of their song through email at songfestival@avrotros.nl. The rules are as follows:

  • Song have to be “convincingly distinctive”
  • Maximum of 3 songs is allowed, considered convincingly fitting for the Eurovision Song Contest.
  • Song should not be (commercially) released before 1st of September 2021
  • Final date of submission is 31st of August 2021
