Greece won’t be making their return to Junior Eurovision 2021!

Greek broadcaster ERT has revealed that they will not be taking part at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Last year there were discussions for their return back to the contest as one part of the ERT
department was in favor of it, but the new administration decided not to participate due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Greece debuted at the inaugural show of Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2003 and competed in the following five years before they withdrew in 2009 due to the budget cuts in the public network due to the financial crisis. Their best result was achieved at JESC 2006 by Alexandros & Kalli who ended the show on sixth place with 88 points perfrorming the song “Tora einai i seira mas” (Tώρα είναι η σειρά μας). The countries which confirmed their participation at Junior Eurovision 2021 so far are UkraineGermanyFranceThe NetherlandsRussia, Ireland ,Georgia. Poland and Portugal who has also selected their entrant for the contest.Albania is expected to make their decision soon  while broadcasters from SloveniaRomaniaLithuaniaSan MarinoSlovakiaMoldovaAustriaEstoniaLatviaDenmarkIceland, Bulgaria, Norway, Finland, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, WalesCzech Republic as well as Belgian broadcasters VRT and RTBF confirmed they won’t be taking part at the show. The contest will take place on 19th of December in Paris .
