Press department of the Slovenian broadcaster, RTVSLO has confirmed to Eurofestivales that they won’t be taking part at Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
In 2019, the head of entertainment of the Slovenian radio and television, Vanja Vardjan, said that Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a contest “too expensive for the afternoon schedule” of RTVSLO.
Slovenia debuted at the show in 2014 and has participated on two occasions, second appearance came the year after when they were represented by Lina Kuduzović and with “Prva ljubezen” reached third place with 112 points.
The countries which confirmed their participation at Junior Eurovision 2021 so far are Ukraine, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Russia, Ireland ,Georgia. Poland and Portugal who has also selected their entrant for the contest.Albania is expected to make their decision soon while broadcasters from Romania, Lithuania, San Marino, Slovakia, Moldova, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Iceland, Bulgaria, Norway, Finland, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Wales, Czech Republic as well as Belgian broadcasters VRT and RTBF confirmed they won’t be taking part at the show. The contest will take place on 19th of December in Paris .
