Applications open for Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022!

After a break of three years, the Maltese national broadcaster PBS is officially bringing back Malta Eurovision Song Contest, where Malta’s entry for Eurovision 2022 in Turin is going to be selected. The call for songs for this festival has been opened today.

All interested acts can already submit their songs, and the application window is open until the 15th of December. After this deadline, the pre-selection jury will listen through all of the submitted songs, and select the best ones to proceed to the televised semi final. Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will consist of two nights – a semi final where a total of 22 songs are going to compete, 16 of which will qualify for the Grand Final.

The last time Malta held Malta Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2018, when Christabelle won the festival and went on to represent her country in Eurovision in Lisbon with “Taboo”. In 2019 and 2020/2021 Malta opted for selecting the X Factor winner as their entrant.
