Blu Hydrangea: We were supposed to represent the UK

RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Blu Hydrangea has spoke about how the Frock Destroyers were allegedly due to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision.

Speaking at Netflix’s ‘I Like To Watch’ Live tour,Blu said:

“I’ll tell you a little secret. So, James…dropped out for three months. And in those three months, the Frock Destroyers had meetings with Eurovision. We were supposed to be on it in 2021!”.

Blu continues:

“That’s the tea. And that’s the end of the story, but we were supposed to and we were in meetings! And it never happened and fingers crossed for 2022”.

Neither James or the BBC have responded to Blu Hydrangea’s comments, however it was reported in May that James would like to see another Ru Paul’s Drag Race band The United Kingdolls to represent The UK in 2022.

The Frock Destroyers were formed as part of a music challenge on the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. During the series, a fan launched a petition urging the Frock Destroyers to be selected as the UK act for Eurovision 2020, with the petition reaching over 14,000 signatures at the time of writing.

You can hear the band’s song ‘Break up bye bye’ which reached number 35 in the UK charts:
