Melodi Grand Prix 2022 brings changes to the format of the show!

As ESC Norge reports the next edition of Norwegian selection for Eurovision Song Contest, Melodi Grand Prix 2022, will feature some changes to the show.

At the autumn meeting of OGAE Norway among the guests were Norwegian head of delegation, Stig Karlsen as well as the winner of MGP 2021, TIX. Stig has revealed some details of MGP 2022, qualifying semi-final rounds and the grand final of Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will be broadcast from Fornebu’s H3 Arena and the show is expected to have audience but the number of fans who will get a chance to watch the show live is still to be decided according to the situation with the pandemic. The venue is going to be expanded to the maximum available space.

Stig Karlsen has also announced some changes to the format of the show. Those include new voting methods, as well as the return of a jury vote, the show used to feature an international jury in the final. The hosts of the show remain unknown given the fact that familiar face of it Ronny Brede Åse stopped working at NRK in July and he is now part of Discovery. Also a big change which will be made is the time of the reveal for the competing acts, last two years the acts have been revealed each Monday of the week when they were competing. The similarity with the last two years will be the fact that several acts are going to get a direct ticket to the final of the show. The deadline for the submissions of songs competing at MGP 2022 was 15th of September. As ESC Norge informs there are fewer foreign authors who submitted their songs at MGP, some of the names which seem to be involved for submitted songs are Kevin Haugan, Reidun Sæther and Emelie Hollow.
