In the beginning of September RTP has opened the submissions for Festival da Canção 2022 after the application period has closed they have revealed that more than 600 have been submitted to their national selection for Eurovision 2022.
The authors behind the submitted songs will be competing for four places at Festival da Canção 2022. Due to the increase in the number of applications coming from the public RTP has changed the rules of the contest and total of four songs submitted will be having a chance to be found in the line up of the national selection. Next years edition of Portuguese national selection will be featuring two semi-finals out of which five acts will qualify to the Grand Final. The winner among the ten finalists will be decided by the 50% jury and 50% televote.
After the last years exciting votes, “Love Is On My Side” by The Black Mamba was crowned as winner of Festival da Canção later on they managed to qualify to the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2021 where they ended on 12th place.
