Former Portuguese Eurovision Representative Edmundo Silva Passes Away!

Sad news among our Eurovision Bubble, past representative of Portugal, Edmundo Silva passed away, the annoucment was made by former journalist Luís Pinheiro de Almeida on social networks. Edmundo Silva has died at the age of 82.We want to express our deepest condolences to his family and friends!

Edmundo Silva was born in 1939 and was engineer by profession, but at the age of 22 he started playing guitar in the group Nova Onda, which will be successful in the television program “A Visita da Cornélia”.

In 1977 Edmundo started a group with Ana Bola, Fernanda Piçarra, Fernando Tordo, Luísa Basto and Paulo de Carvalho especially for competing in Festivalul da Canção where they won. The group competed with the song „Portugal no Coração” and finished 14th in the Grand Final with 18 points.
