Meet the artist who’ll compete at EMA Freš 2022!
127 applications were received on time for the selection of EMA Freš and EMA 2022. 24 of these will be presented in the online broadcasts of EMA Freš, the first round of selecting a Slovenian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, starting on November 29th!
The expert jury selected 24 songs / artists for the EMA Freš. These songs are still in the form of working versions, so the fans will get an insight into the very creative process of creating songs.
EMA 2022 will start with EMA Freš selection, on November 29, online. In four weeks, 24 young performers will compete for their chance to be included in the final selection of EMA Freš, which will take place in January 2022 on RTV SLO. Only four out of 14 finalists in the EMA Freš will advance to the EMA 2022, where they will be joined by 16 other established musicians.
For three weeks in a row, we will meet two performers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and through an online poll, voters will choose one each day to qualify for Saturday’s weekly finals. Out of the four winners of the day, voters will be able to vote for two winners in the new round – again via an online poll – and one will be selected by an expert commission. All three weekly winners will advance to the January finals of the EMA Freš selection.
In the last, fourth week of the online selection of EMA Freš, the remaining 15 songs will get another chance to qualify to the finals of EMA Freš. In the week from 20th to 24th of December, three performers will present themselves again every day, and the winner of the daily online voting will qualify for the January finals of EMA Freš.
EMA Freš will host some familiar faces on commentary panel as well!
In Saturday’s weekly final webcasts of EMA Freš, the weekly finalists will be mentored by three commentators, representatives of the young generation of Slovenian musicians: singer and EMA Freš 2020 host Bojan Cvjetićanin, 2012 Eurovision representative Eva Boto and rapper Arne.
