Slovenia’s EMA Freš starts on Monday!

RTVSlo, Slovenia’s national broadcaster, has started their open call for songs for their two phases of the national selection – EMA Freš, and EMA 2022, back on the 8th of October. The submission window closed only three days ago, and as we reported earlier, a total of 127 songs were submitted. As the pre-selection jury started listening through the submitted songs and choosing the best ones, RTVSlo informed that EMA Freš is starting already this coming Monday, 29th of November!

RTVSlo stated that the pre-selection jury will “hopefully” finish their job tonight, and listen through all of the submitted entries for EMA Freš, and select the best 24 to proceed to the national selection. These 24 songs are going to enter a four week long online competition with daily duels, where a total of 14 will place to the Grand Final of EMA Freš. The last of the 14 finalists will be selected on the 24th of December.

The Final of EMA Freš will be televised, and a jury and televoters from all over Slovenia are going to select the best four acts, which will then proceed to the semi finals of EMA 2022.

In the 2020 edition of EMA Freš, the two winners were Saška with “Še kar lovim tvoj nasmeh” and Parvani Violet with their song “Cupid”. In the Final of EMA 2020, Saška finished in 4th place, whilst Parvani Violet finished third. Ana Soklič ended up winning the Contest with “Voda”.
