Germany’s first rehearsal at Junior Eurovision 2021

The fifth and final rehearsal of the first morning session of JESC 2021 gives us our first look at the performance that will kick off the Sunday afternoon show – it’s Germany, represented by Pauline and Imagine Us.

Fair to say this is the most colourful performance so far. Pauline is joined on-stage by two female dancers, and far more animated people on the LED projection.

It might be the first of many times we see the Eiffel Tower, with an on-screen sighting partway through the performance, and there’s some banner-raising, with pictures of Earth and the “peace” symbol, which helps the “youth spirit” message in the lyrics to translate even to those who don’t speak German. Some might compare it to Isabella Clarke’s Speak Up!, Australia’s entry from 2017.

After two years with no live JESC, this is exactly the poingnant party number needed to bring us right back where we left off.
