Participants of Sanremo 2022 to be announced tonight!

The Italian national broadcaster RAI has just announced that the contestants of the “Big” category of Sanremo 2022 are going to be announced live during this evening’s edition of TG1. The Artistic Director of the show, and the host of the previous two editions, Amadeus, will reveal the names of all 22 acts.

The original plan was that the names of the finalists are going to be revealed during the Final of Sanremo Giovani on the 15th of December. However many rumours started going around about “confirmed” acts, which made RAI allow Amadeus to announce the names to the public earlier than planned.

Some of the rumoured names are Boomdabash, Aka7even, Rkomi, Le Vibrazioni, Tecla & Alfa, Il Tre, Ariete, Achille Lauro, The Kolors, Irama, Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, Fast Animals Slow Kids, Gaia, Margherita Vicario, as well as the Spanish singer Ana Mena, who is set to release an album for the Italian market in 2022. Besides these acts, rumours suggest that former Sanremo winners Elisa, Emma Marrone, Fabrizio Moro and Gianni Morandi will be back in the contest as well.

In tonight’s TG1, Amadeus will reveal the 22 names in two phases, but the last 2 acts are going to be the winners of Sanremo Giovani, and we will find out who they are on the 15th of December.

Sanremo 2022 is set to take place in the Ariston Theatre in San Remo, from the 1st until the 5th of February. The 2021 edition was won by Maneskin, who also went on to represent Italy in Eurovision in Rotterdam, and win the Contest with “Zitti e buoni”.
