Today we got some news from 12xal regarding Azerbaijan’s participation at Eurovision 2022 in Turin. Azeri broadcaster İctimai Televiziya (İTV) is now accepting song submissions for Eurovision 2022!
Anyone interested in representing Azerbaijan has until 30th January 2022 to get their songs to İTV, via the email in the tweet below.
While no information has been provided about the selection method, fans hoping to have another national final added to the already packed calendar will likely be out of luck. Azerbaijan has opted for an internal selection since Elnur Hüseynov was chosen in 2015, and there is little indication that they will bring back a national final show for 2022.
The last time Azerbaijan held a true national final was Milli Seçim Turu 2013 when Farid Mammadov won the right to wave the Azeri flag at Eurovision in Malmö.
