16 shows, 4 finals coming up this week!
Every Eurovision fan knows what a “Super Saturday” means – but we can all agree that this week we are having a “Super Week”! At least one Eurovision show will be on our screens every day from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 different countries, a total of 16 shows, four of which are going to give us a new Eurovision entry!
Let’s take a look at this week’s schedule.
Tuesday, Feb 1
🇮🇹
Starting from 20:40 CET, the 72nd edition of the Italian Festival di Sanremo is going to kick off! The first 12 acts are going to present their competing songs, and they will be judged by three Press juries: Print, Radio & TV, and Web, each of them weighing 1/3 of the result. The ranking of all 12 acts based on the results will be presented at the end of the evening.

Three shows from three different countries are scheduled for Thursday.
🇪🇪
Eurovision night starts early on Thursday, as the first semi final of Eesti Laul starts already at 18:30 CET! Ten acts are going to be competing for five places that lead to the Grand Final, through two rounds of voting. In the first round three acts will be selected by a mix of jury votes and televoting, whilst the remaining seven acts will enter the second round of voting, when additional two qualifiers are going to be selected but this time by televoting only. The show will take place in Saku Suurhall, but unfortunately no audience will be allowed in due to COVID. The third night of Sanremo will be starting at 20:40 CET once again. This time, all the 25 contestants will present their competing songs once again, and televoting lines will be open for the first time. People all over Italy will get a say in televoting which will count as 50% of the result, and the other 50% will come from the “Demoscopic 1000” jury. The ranking based on the public vote will be revealed at the end of the evening.
Friday, Feb 4
We are getting three shows once again, but two of these are Final, which means that this Thursday we are getting two new Eurovision songs for 2022!
🇲🇰
After six consecutive internal selections and for the first time since 2015, North Macedonia is hosting a national final! A total of six acts have been selected to compete, and each competing song has been presented together with its lyric video in last week’s “Stisni Plej” on MRT1. This Friday again in “Stisni Plej”, which starts at 20:15 CET, we will find out which of these acts has won, and will represent North Macedonia in Turin! The fourth, and penultimate evening of Sanremo will once again start at 20:40 CET. This time, the 25 acts are going to cover a hit from the 60s, 70s or the 80s – they have the option to perform alone, or joined by another Italian star in agreement with RAI, and the song they are covering can be an International hit, not necessarily Italian.
🇮🇪
Another country returning to a national final after six consecutive internal selections is Ireland! For the first time after 2015, we are going to get the Irish Eurovision entry in Ryan Tubridy’s “The Late Late Show” which starts at 22:35 CET. Six acts have been selected to compete to represent Ireland this year in Turin, and the winner will be selected by a mix of televoting and jury votes. Another show is set to start at the same time as Lithuania’s semi final 2 – and it’s the first semi final of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2022! A total of seven acts are going to compete in the first semi final – two of which are going to qualify for the Grand Final, another two for the second chance round, whilst three acts will be eliminated. The results will be decided solely by televoting, but quite a complicated one (you can read all about it here), and the show has been moved to the Avicii Arena (aka Globen).
🇱🇻
At 20:05, only five minutes after Lithuania and Sweden start their show, Supernova is going to explode in Latvia! A rather busy, 17-song semi final is going to be broadcast live from LTV’s studio, where a total of 10 finalists are going to be selected by a mix of jury votes and televoting. There are lots of familiar faces in this line-up, including former Latvian Eurovision entrant Aminata, as well as various Supernova veterans: Markus Riva, Miks Dukurs, Miks Galvanovskis, etc. Let us know which are YOUR favorites in the semi final of Supernova by voting in our poll here:

🇸🇮
The first semi final of EMA 2022 is set to start at 20:20 CET. A total of 10 acts are going to be competing for six places that lead to the Grand Final – eight of the competing acts are established artists, whilst the other two are qualifiers from the “newcomers” sister-show EMA Freš, the Final of which took place last Saturday. The six qualifiers are going to be determined by a mix of jury votes and televoting. You can let us know which ones are your favorites by voting in our poll here:

We are ending the week with the same festival that started it as well – Sanremo! In the Grand Final of Sanremo, the 25 acts will once again perform their competing songs. An average score of the different juries in the previous evenings, as well as a new televoting round will decide on the final ranking. The top three acts will either perform again, or their previous live performances will be shown once more, and the voting lines will be open once again. The winner of Sanremo 2022 will then be decided by 33% Press voting (Print + Radio & TV + Web), 33% “Demoscopic 1000” jury, and 34% televoting. Remember that the winner of Sanremo will get the first choice on whether they want to represent Italy in Eurovision 2022, or not.
ESCBubble will, of course, blog all of this week’s shows LIVE, so make sure to join us every evening, watch the shows together with us, and let us know your thoughts on the performances, qualifiers, and winners in a chat together with us.
