The second song of this year’s Uuden musiikin kilpailu (UMK) has been released. You can watch the video of the song Ram pam pam by BESS here:
BESS (real name Essi Launimo) is a pop singer from Helsinki, and she combines pop, electro and house elements in her music. She does music together with her producer Nopsajalka. She came to the knowledge of the Finnish public in 2017 when her song Tempo became a big hit. Tempo has been streamed for over 10 million times.
The debut album of BESS was released in November 2019, and it was named after the artist herself. The album BESS has been streamed over 20 million times. The voice of BESS has also been heard in many Finnish reality shows, such as Love Island Finland, Bachelor Finland and Temptation Island Finland.
BESS has a gravelly voice and her music is very similar than the artist performing it: effervescent and audacious. The UMK entry Ram pam pam also has the energy that is characteristic for BESS. According to Yle, participating in the UMK is the fulfilment of one of BESS’ ”maybe someday” -dreams.
I want to put on the world’s best show at the UMK, she says.
