Linda Martin offers Eurovision duet and gives her views on the voting

Linda Martin has said that she’s open to perform a duet with the two time Eurovision winner Johnny Logan.

The singer who won the contest in 1992 was speaking to extra.ie and said that with “the right song” she believes that they could both lead Ireland to another win at the contest.

Linda Martin, who also took part in the 1984 contest, told the Irish news website that she believes a ballad written by Johnny could still perform well in the contest.

Linda said:

I think we could pull it off but it needs the right song and I know that Johnny has the ability to write it. I often say it to him and he says: “Oh please, don’t start!” But I’m going to keep at him because I know there is that ballad still in there

Aswell as offering to duet with Johnny Logan, Linda gave her views on he voting system, saying that she isn’t happy with the televoting system, saying:

There are half a dozen amazing acts every year but I’m not happy with the voting system and wonder if the right acts are getting through. I think it’s obvious that the phone-in votes are a money-making system for the Eurovision but I don’t think it gets the right result.

As we announced in September, RTE will be choosing their song this year via a National Final on the broadcasters Late Late Show, the first time the broadcaster has done this since 2015. Could we see Linda and Johnny there?

You can see Linda perform her winning entry ‘Why me’ below, with her 1984 entry ‘Terminal 3’ beneath this:
