Vidbir 2022 Coming on 12th February!

News from Ukraine today confirm that Vidbir 2022 will take place on 12th February. Vidbir has been Ukraine’s National Final since 2016 when Jamala‘s “1944” won and went on to win Eurovision in Stockholm!

The show is expected to last 2½ hours and feature between 8 and 10 acts vying for the ticket to Turin. In an Instagram post this morning, Suspilne’s latest update indicated now over 235 songs have been submitted to take part in Vidbir! We are still waiting for the names of the jurors who will help decide the winner, although a secret guest has been invited to take part in Vidbir!

This will be the first time public broadcaster Suspline (UA:PBC) will be doing the show on their own. Their partnership with broadcaster STB ended in August 2021. Suspilne has thus teamed up with the studio Friends Production. This studio is one of the biggest in Ukraine and has been operating for over 12 years and has worked on reality TV programmes, musicals, Ukraine’s Dancing With the Stars, and Ukraine’s Got Talent!

The last winner of Vidbir was Go_A with “Solovey” back in 2020. The band was internally selected to represent Ukraine again in 2021 after the canceled Contest of 2020.
