Alvaro Estrella: ‘I want to show that Sweden has a Latin Community that makes beautiful music!’
Alvaro Estrella is a Swedish singer, songwriter and dancer with Chilean roots, who is best known for his latino pop songs and his participations in Melodifestivalen. Alvaro made his first appearances in Melodifestivalen as a dancer. One of the best known Melodifestivalen performances that Alvaro has featured as a background dancer is Danny Saucedo’s “Amazing“, which was a huge favorite to win the show and only ended up losing to Loreen’s “Euphoria” in the end.
In 2014, Alvaro competed in Melodifestivalen for the first time as a main performer with the song “Bedroom“, where he finished 6th in the semi-final. In 2020, he performed the song “Vamos Amigos” together with Méndez, who like Alvaro is a Swedish-Chilean singer. The duo made it to the Second Chance Round, where they qualified to the final and finished in 11th place overall.
His third Melodifestivalen participation came just one year later, this time with “Bailá Bailá“. He went to Andra Chansen (Second Chance) again, where he won the duel, just like in the previous year. In the final of Melodifestivalen 2021 he reached the 10th place.
This year, Alvaro Estrella will participate in Melodifestivalen for the third consecutive year. His song is called “Suave” and he will perform it in the second semi-final on February 12th!
