Artists and songs for French national final to be revealed on 16th February!

About an hour ago, French HoD Alexandra Redde-Amiel posted the following tweet regarding the return of the French national final “Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez !”:

At the press conference, due to be held by France TV next Wednesday, the date, hosts and venue for the show, as well as the competing artists and songs, will be revealed.

With the UK and Germany having posted about their 2022 selections earlier than usual, and Spain and Italy having already selected their songs, France is the last of the Big 5 countries to announce its plans for this year’s Eurovision. This may be down to the hangover from hosting Junior Eurovision in Paris in December, and the pressure to perform after the success of last year’s edition.

In January 2021, from a field of 12, renowned singer-songwriter Barbara Pravi, and her rousing chanson Voilà, were selected to represent France in Rotterdam, where she would finish second in the Grand Final, France’s best result at Eurovision for 30 years.

The last time France won was back in 1977, with Marie Myriam’s L’oiseau et l’enfant. However, following a string of good results since 2016, the momentum has been building for the French delegation.
