Eurovision Tickets Coming ‘Very Soon’

After what has felt like an eternity, everything for Eurovision 2022 seems to be falling into place. We now have a host city, a venue, the theme art and slogan, the Semi Final Allocation Draw has taken place, and as of last night, the official announcement of the hosts.

But one big thing still has not been announced (and we can all blame Covid-19 for that), and it’s the ticket situation. While we still have no fixed date as to when they will be available, an official Eurovision update explains that they are coming “very soon” and warns fans to be patient and to only get tickets from official sources only.

It goes on to say that the official announcement will be made on Eurovision.tv “in the coming weeks”, which does not fit most people’s definition of “very soon”, but at least it lets fans know that news is coming. So, if you are interested in going, keep an eye out for the announcement.

Covid-19 is wreaking havoc on the ticketing issue, as it will have a central role in determining capacity inside the PalaOlimpico. There was great controversy over the ATP Tennis finals held in the PalaOlimipico back in November 2021 when tickets went on sale based on a venue capacity of 75%, and then two days later, capacity was reduced to 60%.

Organizers do not want a repeat of that event with Eurovision in May, so a great deal of care and caution is being taken, hence the official announcement’s delay. As you may remember, after Eurovision was canceled in 2020, the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam could only accommodate 3,500 spectators for each of the nine live shows.

Depending on what show you wish to see (jury, family, or live a live show of a Semi Final or the Grand Final), ticket prices can vary drastically, and have over the past six contests. Here is quick overview of the prices:

  • Vienna 2015: € 14-390
  • Stockholm 2016: € 11-247
  • Kyiv 2017: € 8-500
  • Lisbon 2018: € 5-299
  • Tel Aviv 2019: € 85-487
  • Rotterdam 2021: € 19-249
