Justė Kraujelytė: Our life in the digital world is growing massively

Our editor Matt spoke to Justé who’s made it through to the final of this year’s Pabandom iš naujo!

Hi Justé. Congratulations on making it through to the final! How did you first get into music?

I first got into music in my early childhood. For 10 years I was singing in a vocal jazz ensemble called KIVI. We travelled around the world, and went to alot of contests, festivals and competitions. I spent all my school years singing.

What’s your song about?

My song is about the problems of modern life, how it’s full of media, fake news and having no truth to believe in. It seems that in all this chaos you always have to chose a side, pick what you believe in but it is so difficult to understand what to choose.

Our life in the digital world is growing massively and we are happily choosing to live in virtual reality, personally I find it very scary…The name of the song “how to get my life back” reminds me of a phrase that we usually type into Google “How to..” when we are searching for some quick and short answers but there is no quick answer to this question..

My second album that I am planning to release this April is about anxiety and this ESC song continues this topic, talking about social anxiety.

What inspires your music?

My music is mostly inspired by psychology, sociology and life itself.

Are you pleased with your staging? Will you be changing anything?

No, I’m not planning to change it. It is built exactly how I wanted it to.

Are you a fan of Eurovision?

Yes, I am a big fan of ESC. I started watching it in my early childhood and I can remember all of the Lithuanian artists participating. In fact, I used to prepare for every ESC, collecting data about artists and songs, watching all the videos, interviews, etc..

When I was a teenager my birthday parties were in ESC theme, I was preparing for them, bringing, clothes, make up, even recording ESC shows onto DVD (yes, people, in my childhood there were no Youtube :D) and after that we were separated into teams, picking songs and trying to make them as close to the original ones as possible 😀
It was a real entertainment for me 😀

What’s your favourite song from Lithuania?

I think that our best songs were LT United “We are the winners” and SKAMP – “You got style”.

Is there anything about you that we might not know?

When I was 7 I wanted to go to dance classes but accidentally I went to singing. That changed everything 😀

One more thing – I graduated Vilnius university and I have a Master degree in Law, I was planning to become a prosecutor but in my last year of studies I went to Eurovision as a back vocalist with a song “This time”, 2015 and after that I decided to follow my dream and become a professional singer 🙂

Who’s your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is psychology, literature and performance artist – Marina Abramovič.

Do you have a message for your fans?

I hope that you enjoyed my interview and wish me luck! If you like my song I invite you to follow me on Spotify, subscribe to my Youtube channel and also follow me on Instagram! I always write back to my fans 🙂

Thanks for your time Justé and Good Luck in the final!
