Listen to the songs competing at Söngvakeppnin 2022 and vote for your favourites!
Tonight the Icelandic broadcaster, RÚV has revealed the 10 songs which are competing for a chance to represent Iceland at Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
RÚV has previously announced that the final of Söngvakeppnin will be taking place on 5th of March, but that was recently changed to 12th of March. They moved the dates one week later because by doing so there are higher chances to have an audience in the studio for the shows and thereby make each show better. This came as a result of a consultation with health authorities due to the prevalence of Covid-19 infections on the island. On 26th of January we informed you that Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir will be hosting the show.
First semi-final (26th of February)
- Amarosis – “Don’t you know” Icelandic / English
- Stefán Óli – “Ljósið” / “All I know”
- Haffi Haff – “Gía” / “Volcano”
- Stefanía Svavarsdóttir – “Hjartað mitt” / “Heart of mine”
- Sigga, Beta & Elín – “Með hækkandi sól”
Second semi-final (5th of March)
- Hanna Mia and the Astrotourists – “Séns með þér” / “Gemini”
- Katla – “Þaðan af” / “Then again”
- Markéta Irglová – “Mögulegt” / “Possible”
- Reykjavikurdaetur – “Tökum af stað” / “Turn this around”
- Suncity and Sanna – “Hækkum í botn” / “Keep it cool”
Söngvakeppnin will feature 10 songs compete for 5 places in the final. Each semi-final will feature five songs out of which two will qualify to the final. The remaining 5th finalist will be selected as a wild card entry. Grand final will feature five performance and after the first round 50% jury and 50% televote will be determining the two super finalists while in the duel or super-final, the two acts which will be performing will be voted only by the audience and the one with majority of audience votes will be chosen to represent Iceland at Eurovision 2022.

Iceland was successful at Eurovision Song Contest 2021 as their entry “10 Years” by Daði og Gagnamagnið managed to get 378 points and end the contest on 4th place, scoring their best result since Yohanna in 2009.
