LUM!X to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with ‘Halo’!

The Austrian broadcaster ORF just revealed in their daily radio show “Ö3-Wecker” that the DJ LUM!X will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin with the song “Halo“! On the Eurovision stage, LUM!X will be accompanied by the 18-year old Tyrolean singer Pia Maria, who is going to sing the tune!

LUM!X is a 19 year old DJ from Upper Austria, who is currently living in Milan. Despite of his young age, he is already very succesful name in the DJ scene. One of his biggest hits “Monster” was a cooperation with the Italian DJ Gabry Ponte, who is a founding member of Eiffel 65, and it currently counts more than 72 million views on YouTube

This announcement does not come as a big surprise, as LUM!X has been among the most rumoured names to represent Austria for months, and the final race was apparently between him and the South-Tyrolean duo ANGER.

During the interview with Ö3, LUM!X said that he grew up multilingual (German and Italian) and even lived in Turin for a while, which makes the contest feel like home. Pia Maria is a newcomer whose first big performance will be on the Eurovision stage. The two of them presented themselves very confidently and LUM!X said that the song has potential to win the competition!

The song will be presented in a few weeks!

LUM!X and Pia Maria will perform “Halo” in the second half of the first semi-final on the 10th of May 2022! Will they be able to bring Austria back to the grand final for the first time since 2018?

Last year, Vincent Bueno represented Austria in Rotterdam with the song “Amen”. He finished 12th in the semi-final and therefore did not qualify to perform in the grand final!
