Martina Majerle joins the cast of Your Face Sounds Familiar in Slovenia!

Festive news came from Slovenia: Eurovision veteran Martina Majerle (Slovenia 2009), who has sang on the Eurovision stage 8 times already, has joined the cast of Slovenian edition of Your Face Sounds Familiar. It was announced via 24ur.com today that Love Symphony singer will join the cast of the Season 6 of Your Face Sounds Familiar Slovenia.

”This is a great compliment for me, as I was chosen among all the talented candidates. I mostly performed as a backing vocalist in the past, and it will be a great challenge for me to come to the fore and get to know other talents. I’m very interested in how I will cope with all the challenges that this show brings and what it is like to become someone else,” Martina said about the show.

Martina Majerle is a Croatian singer with Slovenian roots, and because of that, she sees this adventure as  a great opportunity for her to reconnect with her heritage:

I’m looking forward to know more about myself, my character and my abilities. It’s going to be so fun, I’m looking forward to get closer to the Slovenian culture and language. For a start, I started excersining and I also practice Slovene and singing, of course

Martina has, as mentioned, stood on the Eurovision stage 8 times: doing backing vocals for Claudia Beni (Croatia 2003), Alenka Gotar (Slovenia 2007), Stefan Filipović (Montenegro 2008), went to Eurovision herself as a lead singer with string quartet Quartissimo for Slovenia in 2009 and after that, did the backing for Maja Keuc (Slovenia 2011), Eva Boto (Slovenia 2012), Sergej Ćetković (Montenegro 2014) and also Nina Kraljić (Croatia 2016). So a real Eurovision veteran!

There’s another familiar name in the line up that Eurovision fans will probably recognise: BQL also joined the show this season! BQL rose to fame in 2017, when they tried to represent Slovenia with the song ‘Heart of Gold’. This year they’re also participating in EMA 2022, competing for a Eurovision ticket with a song called ‘Maj’. The final evening of Slovenian Eurovision preselection will take place this Saturday, on February 19th.
