Miks Dukurs given free pass to Supernova 2022 final!

Following a discussion by the Supernova jury and ATV representatives, it has been decided that Miks Dukurs will perform in the final of the show this Saturday. This is due to a technical fault that occurred during the live performance of his song First Love which meant the intended sound effects were not played.

Miks posted a rehearsal performance, with the sound effects, to his Facebook page. When compared to the performance from Saturday’s semi-final (below), it is easy to tell there is something missing.

The jury and ATV representatives agreed that the technical failure had a “significant impact” on the sound quality during the live show, and that these factors may have had an influence on the result. Dukurs failed to qualify for Saturday’s final, having received just 1.24% of the public vote, and not enough of the jury vote to compensate for it.

Just before the semi-final, Miks was interviewed by our very own Joe Sansom, and you can read it here.

The Supernova final will be broadcast on LTV this Saturday at 20:05 CET. The new running order is as follows:

  1. Miks Dukurs – First Love
  2. Raum – Plans
  3. Linda Rušeniece – Pay My Own Bills
  4. Bermudu Divstūris – Bad
  5. Miks Galvanovskis – I’m Just a Sinner
  6. Bujāns – He, She, You & Me
