Sanremo and ‘Brividi’ – Smashing Successes!

Now that more than 24 hours have passed since the dramatic conclusion of the 72nd Sanremo Festival, the show itself and its winners are being hailed as incredible successes!

The full ranking of the Festival’s 25 artists was released last night during the show, however the detailed jury and televoting data have since been published by RAI, and it showed that there was never a doubt that Mahmood and Blanco were going to cruise to a comfortable victory at the Ariston Theatre.

The fifth and final evening of the Festival was seen by an average of 13,380,000 Italian viewers, giving it a 64.9% TV audience share – a number that hasn’t been seen since 2000 when it was 65.4%! The peak TV audience share occurred at 01:47am when 8,743,000 sleepy-eyed viewers – a whopping 81.15% share – tuned in to see Mahmood and Blanco receive their trophy!

As for the winning song Brividi, at publication, the song has hit number 1 on digital charts in Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Switzerland, number 5 in Romania and Spain, number 12 in Belgium and France, number 15 in Germany, and it is charting in 7 other European countries! Meanwhile it is still number 5 on Spotify’s Global Top 200. Brividi surpassed three million streams in less than 24 hours and beat the previous Italian streaming record by Gemitaiz and Madman’s Veleno 7 from 2019. Furthermore, the music video is trending in Malta and Switzerland.
