Tanxugueiras win Benidorm Televote with 71% – Chanel received 4%

At a press conference today hosted by RTVE, Director of Communications María Eizaguirre provided some details about how Chanel came to win Benidorm Fest 2022 with her Latin-inspired hit, SloMo which has hit #3 on Spotify’s Viral 50 Global Chart!

Despite this success, Chanel’s victory has caused a level of controversy rarely seen from a national final event for Eurovision. Chanel has unfortunately received many unkind messages from fans who were upset at her victory. Today’s press conference revealed a better look at the maths that led to Chanel’s win.

The public televote‘s overall weight was 25% of the final vote, and was split:

  1. Tanxugueiras: 70.75%
  2. Rigoberta Bandini: 18.08%
  3. Chanel: 3.97%
  4. Varry Brava: 2.26%
  5. Rayden: 2.12%
  6. Blanca Paloma: 1.04%
  7. Xeinn: 1.01%
  8. Gonzalo Hermida: 0.76%
The deomoscopic jury, made up of 433 people. It’s overall weight was 25% of the final vote and was split:
  1. Tanxugueiras: 14.59%
  2. Chanel: 13.88%
  3. Rigoberta Bandini: 13.52%
  4. Gonzalo Hermida: 12.62%
  5. Rayden: 12.17%
  6. Varry Brava: 11.39%
  7. Blanca Paloma: 10.92%
  8. Xeinn: 10.92%
The 5-member professional jury‘s votes made up 50% of the final vote, and they awarded (Juror 1, 2, 3, 4, 5’s points below):
  • Chanel: 51 points (7, 12, 12, 8, 12)
  • Rigoberta Bandini: 46 points (12, 8, 6, 10, 10)
  • Blanca Paloma: 39 points (5, 6, 8, 12, 8)
  • Rayden: 37 points (8, 10, 7, 6, 6)
  • Tanxugueiras: 30 points (10, 7, 4, 7, 2)
  • Xeinn: 30 points (4, 4, 10, 5, 7)
  • Varry Brava: 25 points (6, 5, 5, 4, 5)
  • Gonzalo Hermida: 12 points (2, 2, 2, 2, 4)
