Dora 2022 is right around the corner and we had the chance to meet TIA, who is one of the 14 finalists in Croatia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022!

Tia Miljanović is a newcoming artist to the Croatian music scene. Her first single “Ego” was released in May 2021 and was written by herself. She is currently working on her first album. At this year’s Dora, TIA will compete with the song “Voli Me Do Neba” and we had the chance to meet her, ahead of her big performance this Saturday.

Hello Tia! Thank you very much for joining us today, we are really glad to have you. We cannot wait to find out more about you, your music and your participation at Dora 2022!

How did you react when you found out that you are going to be at Dora?
I was very excited and surprised because I knew how many artists applied. It was a very nerve racking week while waiting for the results. Afterall, I felt beyond grateful.

Your song is one out of only four Croatian songs at this year’s Dora. Why have you decided to sing in your native language?
My song was supposed to be a single. We made it in April 2021 already in Croatian. We decided to wait and brainstorm. Dora came soon and we came to the conclusion that it was the perfect opportunity to present the song to a wider audience.

Is all of your music in Croatian?
For now, yes. My first single ‘Ego’ was published in May 2021, so I am very new to all of this. I see myself, one day, singing both in Croatian and in English. Who knows what the future holds.

Do you have an inspiration or a role model when it comes to music?
R&B music influenced me the most. Legends such as Lauryn Hill. But lately my role models have been Kehlani, H.E.R, Jorja Smith, Snoh ​​Aalegra. I am also a fan of electronic music, mostly vocal house.

I have listened to your music and I really like your song ‘Ego’ – In which musical direction is ‘Voli Me Do Neba’ going?
I would describe it as emotional, sensual and mystical. The sound and production are recognizable, but the songs have a different dynamic.

Can you give us a taste on what your performance is going to look like?
We are currently working on that so I don’t want to give too much away. It will be very mystical and sensual just like the song. The scenography will be simple but effective.

What are you most looking forward to, when you think about your upcoming time in Opatija?
I am excited to perform my song, to meet and hear other performers, and finally to experience the whole atmosphere.

Why would you like to represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin?
Eurovision is a big contest and a part of our culture. It would be an honour to represent my country for such a big project.

Besides Dora, do you have any other projects planned for 2022?
For now we are going with the flow. I am signed to my record company Studio Republika. We have been working on my album for a year. Despite the income of Dora, we will surely continue making music.

I hope you will enjoy Dora as much as we enjoyed preparing for it. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite singer and performance.
