The remaining three acts still have a chance to be picked for the final as one of the six non finalist will get a Wild Card for the show. You can check our interview with Sigga, Beta & Elín HERE. RÚV has previously announced that the final of Söngvakeppnin will be taking place on 5th of March, but that was changed to 12th of March. They moved the dates one week later because by doing so there are higher chances to have an audience in the studio for the shows and thereby make each show better. This came as a result of a consultation with health authorities due to the prevalence of Covid-19 infections on the island. So next week instead of the final we will be watching another five acts compete in a semi-final and the running order is as follows:

  1. Markéta Irglová – “Mögulegt” / “Possible
  2. Suncity and Sanna – “Hækkum í botn” / “Keep it cool
  3. Reykjavikurdaetur – “Tökum af stað” / “Turn this around
  4. Katla – “Þaðan af”  / “Then again
  5. Hanna Mia and the Astrotourists – “Séns með þér” / “Gemini

Söngvakeppnin 2022 features 10 songs which are competing for 5 places in the final. Out of five songs in each semi two qualify to the final. The remaining 5th finalist is going to be selected as a wild card entry.  Grand final will feature five performances and after the first round the voting will be done 50% jury and 50% televote to determine the two super finalists while in the duel or super-final, those two acts will be voted only by the audience and the one with majority of votes will be chosen to represent Iceland at Eurovision 2022.
