John Lundvik Reveals English version of Melfest Song ‘Änglavakt’

Sweden’s John Lundvik qualified direkt till final of his third Melodifestivalen with the song “Änglavakt” (Guardian Angel). Today John released an English version of his song called “Lights Go Low”.

Eurofans are certinaly familiar with John Lundvik, who first competed in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen back in 2018 with the ballad “My Turn”. That year, he qualified to the final directly from the 1st Heat and finished in third place overall.

In 2019, John was back Melodifestivalen with The Mamas and their song “Too Late for Love”. He qualified for the final from his heat and went on to get 12 points from all of the inernational jurors, winning the Contest to represent Sweden at Eurovision in Tel Aviv. He did not dissapoint at Eurovision either, coming 2nd in the jury vote and finishing in 5th place overall – good enough to give Sweden its 7th and final Top 5 result of the 2010s.

In his third Melodifestivalen this year, John competed in Heat 2, singing another ballad, “Änglavakt,” in Swedish. He came in second place in his Heat (behind Liamoo), good enough to get him his third consecutive ticket straight to the Final. He’ll compete in next Saturday’s Final of Melodifestivalen in Friends Arena in Stockholm on 12th March. If he does win and go on to represent Sweden for a second time in three years, it is interesting to know that he has an English version of his song ready to go, should he opt to sing in English in Turin!
