Melodifestivalen Semi Final Set for Saturday!

Andra Chansen is dead. Long live the new Semi Final!

After it was first introduced in 2004, Melodifestivalen has decided to dithc its duel-based Andra Chansen (Second Chance) Round in favour of a new Semi Final. As with previous years, the third- and fourth- placed finalists in the four heats have qualified to a sudden-death or last chance show, held one week before the final – so only the format of this fifth show in the Melfest calendar has been altered.

The new format will see the eight qualifiers, divided into two groups of four, with two artists qualifing to next week’s Final from each group. These four winners will join the eight acts already qualified for the Final, to round out the 12 acts that will appear in Friends Arena on 12th March!

A draw was held today, and was broadcast live on SVT Play to determine the two groups. Shortly after, the running order was shared on Melodifestivalen’s Instagram account.

First Half Running Order:

  1. Tone Sekelius – “My Way”
  2. Álvaro Estrella – “Suave”
  3. Danne Stråhed – “Hallabaloo”
  4. Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power”

Second Half Running Order:

  1. Theoz – “Som du vill”
  2. Lisa Miskovsky – “Best to Come”
  3. Lillasyster – “Till Our Days Are Over”
  4. Cazzi Opeia – “I Can’t Get Enough”
