Melovin, who represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, is currently in Lviv as a volunteer, helping with organizing supplies for his compatriots. During his stay, he shot a live music video of the song “не зволікай / Waste No Time”. The song is about his own emotions but also about the feelings of all Ukrainians, who are suffering under the current situation.
Melovin explained towards Ukrainian media that he heard explosions on the night from February 23rd to 24th and that’s when he, like 44 million other Ukrainians, received the terrible news from the Ukrainian government, that the war had begun.
At 5:57 a second explosion occurred, causing the windows to shake! I heard a series of loud explosions and a loud whistle. When I called the team, everyone said they heard it! When we looked on the Internet, we saw official information from our government, warning that the war had begun. Russia opened fire under the guise of a “special peacekeeping mission” to protect Ukrainians.
But this is a lie! There is no-one to protect and save us from! Now we need to be saved from Russian aggression!
Early in the same morning, he left for Lviv with his cat and his team, where he is still staying as a volunteer. Furthermore, he explained that with his music, he wants to lift the spirits of people!
We have the utmost respect for Melovin and all the other volunteers inside Ukraine. We hope that peace will prevail soon!
Melovin opened the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, only one year after his country Ukraine had hosted the competition! If you want to re-watch his amazing performance back then, you can do that below!
